1. Project Summary and Goals

Replenish Hypnosis helps people transform their lives through a unique blend of hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), energy work, and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). Before coming to MindBody Digital, the business’s owner, Mark, had no website or branding and no clue where to start.

The goals of the project were to create branding and a website for Replenish Hypnosis that captured and balanced Mark’s humor and personality while clearly conveying his professionalism.

2. Color Palette

The color palette for the Replenish Hypnosis website and brand revolves around shades of purple and light blue. The mid shade of purple was chosen as the primary brand color to reflect the inner-focused nature of Replenish Hypnosis’s methodologies. Purple is often associated with qualities like introspection, spirituality, and transformation, all of which align perfectly with the business’s brand. A lighter shade of purple was chosen as a secondary button color to visually contrast with the light blue of the primary button color.

Light shades of blue were selected as secondary colors for the background and primary button color to provide a sense of calmness to site visitors. While white was initially considered for the background, it made the site feel too clinical and sterile despite the imagery. Therefore, light blue was chosen to serve both as a functional color and one that represents the brand’s qualities.

3. Font

The font selected for the website is Source Sans Pro. This particular font was chosen for its clean, modern, and professional look and feel, qualities which were critical to balancing out the more creative, tongue-in-cheek imagery used throughout the site. We wanted the website to feel professional with pops of personality, and the Source Sans Pro font significantly contributed to achieving that professional feel.

4. Logo

For the Replenish Hypnosis logo and its variations, we ultimately decided on an eye motif with the business name in a handwritten font. From the start of the project, we recognized the potential to fall into visual stereotypes, especially with the logo. To convey Mark’s funny and somewhat rebellious personality, we chose to lean into and consciously own the eye stereotype while keeping it clean, modern, and not hokey. This approach allowed us to use imagery typically associated with hypnosis but in a serious and elevated manner.

5. Images

For the website imagery, we wanted photos that showcased people who looked like they would fit into Replenish Hypnosis’s main target audience. To avoid the photos feeling too bland and generic, we implemented a frame break technique, which makes the subject appear as if they’re popping out of the frame. This effect symbolizes breaking through restrictions into a new life, which aligns with what Replenish Hypnosis helps its clients achieve.

We also included handwritten-style annotations in the images to highlight the balanced, professional yet friendly, and approachable nature of Mark and his business. Combined with the Source Sans Pro font used throughout the website, the imagery style strikes the right balance of professionalism with pops of personality that we were aiming for.

6. Copywriting

The information for the website copywriting was gathered during the in-depth strategy session conducted before the project began. Almost all of the website copy was written by MindBody Digital’s owner, Tyler, with significant collaboration between Tyler and Mark focused on creating the FAQ section of the Replenish Hypnosis site. The website copy—particularly the FAQ section—required extra attention to detail due to the inclusion of terms and concepts that may be unfamiliar to many people.

7. Other Design Elements

Throughout the website, there are numerous section header underlines and emphasis elements. These were designed to look hand-drawn, emphasizing the friendly and approachable nature of Mark and Replenish Hypnosis. The emphasis elements, in particular, provide a good contrast to the rest of the surrounding layout where they appear, creating an overall feeling of friendly and approachable professionalism.

“I’d highly recommend Tyler to anyone who needs help with their branding and/or website creation! He is professional but also very fun and easy to work with.

I especially appreciated all of the pointed questions he asked me throughout the process and the level of detail that went into his work. His questioning really helped me get more clear about my business and who I could best serve. I really felt like he was able to channel my personality into the website and give an accurate picture to future clients of what they could expect.

I had no clue where to start with a website. What I did know was I wanted a site different than what most people in my business have. Tyler did a ton of research and came up with a site and brand that is unique and stands out from other brands.

His level of detail is thorough and fun!”
